The robotics industry is constantly changing and evolving. New robotics technologies and developments in automation are quickly creating exciting career opportunities at every education level – from micro-credentials to PhDs. Here is where you can learn more about robotics careers in manufacturing and how these new technologies are benefiting workers
The RoboticsCareer.org team is always working hard to improve your experience on the platform. We get regular feedback from various key audiences, like the nation’s leading robotics employers, training providers, and of course, you – our user base. This feedback allows us to make changes and add new features that align with what most people find useful. Recently, this included one of our most important feature updates to date – the applied competency.
A competency is a specific skill in robotics, as part of our competency framework. This framework is a set of 26 competencies that the ARM Institute and its many member organizations across academia, government, and industry identified as the most necessary for the three primary roles in robotics: robotics technician, robotics specialist, and robotics integrator.
Unlike other career sites, our platform’s matching process is based on skills, meaning every job and training opportunity has competencies cataloged on the backend. So, when you tag a competency on your profile, whether you hope to master it in a training program, or bring expertise in it to your next job, you will be matched to opportunities that align with those skills.
The new applied competency feature takes that matching process to the next level, helping your profile stand out even more to hiring managers. Marking a competency as “applied” on your profile, means that you have more than a theoretical understanding; you’ve put this skill into practice either through a project, internship, apprenticeship, or job. This is infinitely valuable to employers, as we have heard repeatedly that nothing beats real hands-on experience, and now you have the ability to show off your applied competencies in robotics! Keep reading for a quick step-by-step on how to update your profile with your applied competencies.
There is one final step, to make sure you will be seen by employers. On the same Profile page, find the Account Settings tab, and ensure your permissions are set to allow for visibility. Now, organizations that are hoping to fill robotics roles will be able to find you as a candidate.
Of course, you can always be proactive by checking back daily for new robotics opportunities in your area. Job listings are automatically refreshed twice per week, ensuring your access to the freshest openings.
