What You Might Have Missed in Recent Robotics News

By Katelyn Turoski | April 11, 2025

The RoboticsCareer.org team has been busy! From major updates to the platform, to webinars hosted by the ARM Institute, to the successes of its many partners and endorsed programs, so much has happened this year already and it’s only April. For a non-exhaustive recap on the past few months, keep reading.

New Features on RoboticsCareer.org

Our goal is always to make RoboticsCareer.org the best resource for you, whether you’re a student just now discovering the world of robotics, a professional looking for a career change, or an employer looking for qualified talent. This year has been no exception, as we continued to push new updates to the platform that included a wide array of exciting features.

If you’re looking for a job, recent updates now allow you to include even more information on your profile! You can now add robotics competitions or military experience. You can also specify if you’ve attended an ARM Institute endorsed training program, which will give you a neat merit badge that employers can see as they search for a candidate. For a list of these programs, check out our page on endorsements.

Plus, if you’re wondering what your profile looks like to employers, you can access that view from your user profile page too. If it looks a little bare, the new profile strength gauge will give you an idea of which areas need strengthening.

Maybe most importantly, was the addition of the “applied competency”. This new feature means you don’t just add a competency to your profile – you can even qualify it based on if you’ve demonstrated it in a work setting, making your profile stand out to recruiters. If you want more background on this feature, you can check out our recent blog post that goes into more detail.

And if you’re an employer? All of the new user profile capabilities mean more ways for you to search for your ideal candidate. When you search through our growing talent pool, you can now search specifically for anyone with applied competencies, or robotics competition experience, and more. You will also be able to see at a glance if the user completed an endorsed program. Need qualified robotics and automation talent in the geography near you? No problem. And like always, you can contact them directly from the platform.

As for partner events and successes, there have been plenty this year so far.

The ARM Institute and Partner REC Foundation Host Interactive Robotics Career Workshop

In this workshop from early February, students and job seekers learned job search and resume best practices from human resource firm Compass. They also connected with leading robot manufacturer Yaskawa for a virtual tour of their facility and to get insight into various job roles managing and implementing robotics in manufacturing.

The virtual event gave attendees the opportunity to get advice from experts working in robotics and to learn how to power their career, internship, or education journey through RoboticsCareer.org.

If you missed the workshop but this piques your interest now, you can catch up on what you missed here!

Fox Valley Technical College Prepared New Cohort of Students for Workforce

Fox Valley Technical College, an ARM Institute endorsed school, celebrated another cohort of students from the Career EXCELerate program this year. This is a no-cost program in which students are able to receive certificates in manufacturing and other fields! If you are recruiting for positions in the upper Midwest, Fox Valley alumni may be a great resource.

Thanks to a state workforce grant that helped launch the program in Summer 2022, as of this past December, 91% of graduates have continued their career journey, whether through employment or further education.

Greene County Career Center Students Explored Careers with Yaskawa Motoman

Leading robotics manufacturer Yaskawa Motoman, invited students from ARM Institute-endorsed program at Greene County Career Center to explore careers in automation. The juniors and seniors from the Advanced Industrial Robotics and Advanced Engineering Systems programs were able to spend the day hearing about opportunities in robotics.

During the school’s visit, Yaskawa even donated a robotic arm to help further their hands-on education as they progress down the path in robotics.

BotsIQ Celebrated 20 Years

BotsIQ, an ARM Institute-endorsed training program, recently celebrated 20 years of impact! BotsIQ is the largest high school manufacturing workforce development program in southwestern Pennsylvania. The program has introduced thousands of students to local companies and in-demand skills, connecting classroom learning to real-world applications. Last year, nearly every single BotsIQ student reported learning at least one technical skill — like those in our competency framework — as well as at least one foundational soft skill like critical thinking or leadership. BotsIQ is helping pave the way for our future workers to be not only technically skilled employees, but accomplished, well-rounded people.

SME Career Cafe Continued Their Coffee Chat Series

SME Career Cafe regularly offers virtual events that offer tailored insights and expert advice on a variety of integral topics. So far this year, they’ve held two – the first discussed public speaking and presentation skills; the second discussed stress, time management, and conflicts.

If this interests you, you still have time to register for their next career chat! In June, they will talk about integrating AI into a job search. You can find the details on the RoboticsCareer.org event page, which is always kept updated with the most relevant industry events.
